Role: Assistant Lab Director
Company Overview: The company is privately held, with revenues approaching $45 million. The organization offers comprehensive solutions and support services for employers, health systems and laboratories. Using an advanced scientific approach, the company helps individuals utilize their genetic results to guide treatment options, along with supporting providers to deliver customized treatment and prevention plans to patients. Founded in 2014 and growing rapidly, the company has locations in Greenville, SC and Charleston, SC, and employs over 50 team members.
Position Summary: The Assistant Lab Director will manage the clinic staff, oversee compliance efforts as part of CLIA requirements, , coordinate testing, pre-validation and assay optimization.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee administrative tasks, including drafting, editing and finalizing regulatory documents and standard operating procedures
- Manager and mentor 2 teams – the lab staff and the accessioning team
- Hire and train new team members as the company continues to grow.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the success of the department.
- Participate in weekly leadership meetings
Requirements:
- Ph.D preferably in life sciences, specifically molecular biology
- 2+ years of experience in a clinical setting, with 1+ years of leadership experience
- Must be comfortable working autonomously as well as cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Possess entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to embrace “all hands-on deck mentality” of a growing company.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Location: In-office role in Charleston, SC.
