A well known client in Downtown Columbia is looking to add a Staff Accountant to their team to handle Accounts Payable processes, issuing vendor payments, and completing other financial operations tasks . The Staff Accountant will communicate expense guidelines and budget information to a variety of stakeholders and collaborate with them to obtain appropriate substantiation for expenditures. Other primary responsibilities will include monitoring cash flow, managing the corporate card program, and overseeing accounts receivable processes.
Responsibilities:
- Compile, analyze and report A/P data to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
- Ensure timely payment to vendors
- Manage the organization’s credit card program, including overseeing card issuance, monitoring transactions, reconciling statements, ensuring compliance with policies and donor
restrictions, and documenting necessary substantiation - Reconcile monthly invoices, collaborating with stakeholders to obtain expense support
- Support the HR function by reconciling benefits bills to payroll deductions, General Ledger, and complete ad hoc reporting when necessary
- Monitor and analyze cash flow patterns to ensure liquidity in operating accounts
- Identify opportunities to digitize or otherwise streamline existing processes
- Assist with the preparation of 1099 forms
- Assist with information requests during the annual external audit
- Answer and direct incoming general phone calls and welcome guests when necessary
- Help with other special projects as needed
- 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience
- Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, preferred
- Must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Excel
- Willingness to learn new tools for completing tasks
