Goodwill of the Upstate/Midlands is looking for a dynamic and action-oriented Vice President of Retail Excellence who will provide the strategic leadership and operational guidance for all programs for retail stores, specialty retail stores, sales, donations, and processing.   The Vice President of Retail Excellence is a critical leader in driving the strategy and execution of all retail operations, monitoring and achieving performance goals across revenue, customer/donor experience, and team member engagement; and driving adjustments to strategies and tactics as necessary to consistently achieve or exceed goals.  This position is also responsible for establishing new retail business models and identification of new retail locations as well as repositioning and improving current locations.  

The ideal candidate will be metric and results-driven with a contagious leadership ability, gifted communication skills, and an innate ability to drive retail operations forward. They must have a thorough understanding of the retail industry, a track record of success, and a passion for creating innovative customer experiences.  

Reports to: CEO
Location: Based out of the Greenville, SC Corporate office.  Frequent travel throughout the sixteen counties is required.   Early morning, evening, overnight, and weekend travel may also be required.

Although not all-inclusive, responsibilities also include the following:
  • Provide the strategy, vision, leadership, direction, and supervision of all aspects of retail operations/excellence
  •  Provide leadership and supervision to the retail team (regional managers, store managers, and various levels of retail positions) in merchandising, presentation, marketing, customer service, and donor relations
  •   Lead, grow, and direct the development and management of the retail division, including all retail locations, specialty retail stores,  and e-commerce
  •   Develop and utilize data analytics to evaluate processes, improve decision-making, enhance sales, foster donation development, enhance the customer/donor experiences, and increase efficiencies
  •  Establish new retail business models
  •  Enhance the public image of company and promote a culture that models the overall vision, mission, and values at all times
  •  Serve as a key member of executive leadership team that is committed to achieving strategic initiatives
  •  To perform all other duties that may be assigned
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
  •      Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or related fields (eight years of progressively responsible professional experience may be substituted for degree)
  •      At a minimum, eight years of progressively responsible professional experience in retail management is required
  •      Must have excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) 
  •      Advanced knowledge of the principles, best practices, and sound techniques of retail management 
  •      Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and retail management leadership
  •      Ability to develop long-term plans and programs and to evaluate work accomplishments
  •      Ability to apply and adapt practices and techniques to the special requirements of executive management
  •      Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other members of the leadership team, associates, and the general public
  •      Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form
  •      Displays initiative and sensitivity to differences in the workplace
  •      Must have a valid and current driver’s license with limited points for violations
