A local church in Spartanburg is looking for a new Director of Student Ministries to lead their high school and college age ministry. This person will be responsible for nurturing the spiritual growth of the youth and build meaningful relationships, creating vibrant ministry programs, and encouraging young people to explore and deepen their faith in a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, lead, and oversee Junior and Senior High youth groups, including retreats, service projects, and mission trips.
  • Create a welcoming and safe space where young people feel valued and supported as they explore their faith.
  • Be actively present in the lives of students by attending events such as sports games, performances, prayer gatherings, and milestone moments.
  • Provide spiritual leadership and guidance to youth and young adults through teaching, mentoring, and presence.
  • Equip and support adult volunteers through training, encouragement, and compliance with Safe Church practices.

  • A genuine passion for walking alongside youth, and college students in their faith journeys.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and families.
  • Competence in leveraging technology and social media for effective communication and outreach.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to planning and program development.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and sustain both programs and personal relationships.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and social communication abilities.
  • Emotional maturity, strong self-awareness, and the ability to establish and maintain healthy boundaries.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Prior experience in youth and/or college ministry leadership strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with liturgical traditions is a plus.
  • A demonstrated calling to ministry with young people and a commitment to the life and mission of the church.
Compensation:
  • Salaried position starting at $55,000-58,000
Schedule:
  • Monday through Thursday and Sundays, must be flexible as there will be afternoon and evening activities
