Summary:
We’re looking for a thoughtful, adaptable Data Engineer to join our Intelligence Team. In this role, you’ll work on a small number of strategic client projects, helping teams unlock the full value of their data through scalable, modern solutions. You won’t just build pipelines—you’ll collaborate directly with clients and internal teams to understand business goals, shape architecture, and ensure what we build delivers real impact.
Responsibilities:
- Design & build modern data solutions – Ingest, organize, and transform raw data into clean, analytics-ready assets using best-in-class tools and practices.
- Collaborate with clients & teams – Engage directly with clients to understand business needs, translate them into technical strategies, and help build trust through delivery.
- Support diverse platform architectures – Work within or help shape modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Fabric, AWS, or similar); support medallion/lakehouse-style architectures.
- Own your workflows – Build robust pipelines using tools like notebooks, dataflows, and orchestration frameworks.
- Document & communicate effectively – Ensure architecture, design decisions, and process documentation are clear for internal and external teams.
- Maintain context – Connect the dots between technical choices and business outcomes; help stakeholders understand the “why” behind the “how.”
- Practice quality-first engineering – Test your own work, support peer review, and continuously optimize for performance and scale.
- Stay agile & organized – Manage tasks and team collaboration using Azure DevOps (or similar).
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in a data engineering or development role
- Proficiency with SQL and Python (KQL, PySpark are a plus)
- Experience with or interest in modern data platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, or AWS data tools
- Familiarity with lakehouse, data warehouse, or event-stream architectures
- Ability to think critically and adapt in dynamic client environments
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with both technical and business stakeholders
Work Style & Travel:
- This is a remote-first position, preferably in the Eastern time zone (southeastern U.S. ideal).
- We aim to gather in person once per quarter, and you may travel 4–6 times per year for key client or company events.
- Candidates should be located within reasonable distance of a major airport to support client visits as needed.
