Our client, a chemical manufacturing plant in the Greenville area is looking for an Entry-Level Laboratory Chemist to join their team. This person will support daily lab operations, like sample preparation, formulation work, testing, and maintaining the lab.

This is a great opportunity for someone eager to be mentored by senior technical staff looking for a hands-on laboratory role after college.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare chemical formulations, blends, and trial samples as directed.
  • Perform routine chemical and physical testing on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
  • Keep precise records of experimental procedures, test data, and formulation adjustments.
  • Assist with problem-solving and non-conformance investigations by reproducing batches or conducting lab-scale simulations.
  • Work with production and quality control teams to provide lab support for manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in evaluating new raw materials, alternative suppliers, or process modifications through bench-scale testing.
  • Help ensure laboratory equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and functioning; report issues promptly and assist in troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to a clean, safe, and well-organized laboratory by cleaning glassware, replenishing supplies, and following good housekeeping practices.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe workplace.
  • Handle, label, and store chemicals in compliance with OSHA, GHS, and internal safety standards.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Solid understanding of general, organic, and analytical chemistry principles.
  • No professional experience required but coursework, laboratory projects, internships, or co-op experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory instruments such as balances, pH meters, viscometers, and mixers.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Eagerness to learn production processes and collaborate with manufacturing personnel.
  • Ability to work safely in a laboratory setting that supports production operations (PPE required).
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation:
  • $46,000 – $55,000 per year salaried
