The Middle School Program Coordinator for GirlUp GVL will collaborate with the Executive Director and Program Team to plan, develop, and execute activities for middle school students. The Coordinator will plan and execute quality, relevant activities and experiences during programming hours. The Coordinator will facilitate the Individual Success Planning (ISP) for program attendees and facilitate parents, teacher, volunteer communications. Success in this role is measured by the Coordinator’s ability to ensure the safety and well-being of each attendee and effectively address their emotional, social, educational, and physical needs.
 
This is a permanent, onsite position. The school year schedule is Monday – Thursday, 11am – 7pm; Friday, 10am – 6pm. The summer schedule is Monday – Thursday, 7:30am – 1:30pm, Friday, hours vary.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a consistent and trusted point of connection between students, families, school staff, volunteers, and the organization
  • Build strong, trusting relationship with students
  • Design, plan, and execute creative, timely, and intentional activities and experiences
  • Create an empowering, inclusive culture while maintaining high expectations and excellent behavior 
  • Coordinate with school administrators, counselors, teachers, and support staff to schedule, align, and facilitate in-school programming
  • Develop understanding of individual student needs and create strategies towards growth
  • Schedule, train, and direct volunteers, mentors, and community partners
  • Support logistics and provide transportation services for the students 
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience working with middle or high school youth
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed, restorative, or youth-centered practices preferred
  • Ability to pass required background checks; CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to build relationships with students and families from diverse backgrounds
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
  • Patience, empathy, and emotional awareness
  • Effective time management, organizational skills, and follow-through
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities
