Location: Christiansburg, VA
Schedule: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, approximately 40–45 hours weekly (No overtime)
Pay: $60,000–$65,000 per year
Job Summary:
A Dispatcher is needed to coordinate drivers, trucks, and containers to maximize productivity and ensure efficient, courteous service. This role is essential in supporting daily operations, optimizing routes, and assisting both drivers and customers.
Responsibilities
- Maximize daily capacity through efficient use of drivers, trucks, and equipment.
- Achieve productivity goals through effective routing and scheduling.
- Assign loads to drivers based on route needs and driver locations.
- Prepare, update, distribute, and close daily route schedules.
- Maintain route documentation, including scheduled stops, missed pickups, extra pickups, route completions, and driver locations.
- Verify route completion through the driver check-in process.
- Close prior-day routes within internal operating systems by established deadlines.
- Interact courteously with customers as needed.
- Report driver performance concerns to management.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred.
- Previous dispatching or similar operational experience required.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience in the waste or transportation industry is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when needed.
- Able to complete assignments with minimal supervision.
- A background check is required.
