Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal to support attorneys handling a variety of county, municipal, and government-related legal matters. This role is critical in managing cases, supporting trial preparation, and ensuring deadlines and filings are handled efficiently. This position requires someone who is personable, proactive, and comfortable interacting with county officials, town managers, and government employees. You will play a key role in supporting the legal team in a collaborative office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and electronically file legal documents in state and federal courts
- Organize and summarize discovery, document production, and deposition transcripts
- Gather and manage case materials (records, reports, affidavits, witness statements)
- Maintain case calendars, including deadlines, hearings, depositions, and mediations
- Track court filings and scheduling orders
- Draft and manage discovery requests and responses
- Draft correspondence, emails, and legal documents
- Assist attorneys with trial, mediation, and hearing preparation
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and government officials
- Maintain thorough knowledge of assigned cases and timelines
- Provide general administrative and legal support as needed
Qualifications
Required:
- 3–5 years of litigation paralegal experience
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Professional, team-oriented attitude
- Paralegal certificate
- Experience with state and federal e-filing systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
