Marycruz Figueroa

Recruiter

As a Staffing Recruiter at FGP, Marycruz focuses on both temporary and direct hire roles within the Greenville area. She is responsible for sourcing both active and passive candidates, developing relationships with them to determine if they’re a fit for our openings, and project managing positions on behalf of our sales team.

Prior to FGP she worked in staffing in a dual desk role, which not only required her to recruit and interview candidates but also to source business from companies. Prior to working in the staffing industry, Marycruz organized the back end for documentaries that aired on ETV (and were even Emmy nominated), traveled to film interviews, and produced various types of video content for a variety of organizations.

Interesting Facts:

What’s the last book you read and what did you think?
“The Light Years” by Chris Rush. I love memoirs, and this one is no exception. It reminded me a little of “The Basketball Diaries” but more outdoorsy. It’s a psychedelic coming-of-age story that takes place in the 60’s and involves a boy in the LGBTQ community and the reckoning he has with himself and with his relationship with his father. Breathtaking and lovely.

If you could have any other fantasy career what would it be and why?

If I was more left brained, I would’ve worked in harm reduction within the psychopharmacology field. Otherwise…a children’s book writer and illustrator!

What was your first job?
You know those videos your science teachers in middle school would make you watch before you did an experiment, of other kids doing the experiment first? I was the kid in those videos. You wouldn’t believe how many things we faked for the camera or how many times I had to pretend to “have a hypothesis” while the camera panned up to catch my thought bubble that they would edit into the video in post.
