Well established residential home builder in the Southeast is hiring a Chief Financial Officer to join their team. They are seeking a principled leader of intentionally high character with a proven history of finance and accounting success. This professional will work alongside Senior Leadership while collaborating closely with the Division leaders and leading a team of 7 accounting professionals. 

They have four divisions currently and this role will be headquartered out of their corporate office in Cumming, Ga. Their primary business is building and selling new homes but they also build homes for investors and have a land development arm. 

Position Summary

The right leader will work with his/her staff to produce and then provide accurate financial information and guidance across all functional areas of the business. They will work as a strategic partner leading in cash flow management, accounting deliverables and team accountability, budgeting, 1-3-5 year planning/business plan, bank relationship management, annual audit process, insurance oversight, and cost analysis/control.  

Essential Duties and responsibilities include:
  • Lead the Accounting and Finance team as a vital part of our business
  • Collaborate with other departments to foster and maintain a team atmosphere with a focus on internal and external customers
  • Manage bank accounts
  • Ensure timely daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reporting with a focus on cash and income projections
  • Supervise, evaluate, and augment the Accounting / Finance team as needed
  • Supervise IT contracts and onsite personnel.
  • Develop and implement an efficient financial reporting structure for the company and for each division
  • Maximize the impact of the MARKS Systems Accounting Software
  • Manage benefits and payroll accounting and reporting
  • Ensure an effective and efficient high-integrity Audit with an external CPA firm
  • Assist the CEO and ownership team in developing long and short-term financial plans through the implementation of analytical tools
  • Oversee accounting procedures, review monthly financials with management
  • Provide risk management tools by analyzing the organization’s liabilities and investments
  • Improve daily / weekly cash reporting and cash forecasting
  • Manage weekly bank draws and loan tracking (construction and development)
  • Enhance our Land Development internal financial reporting
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with our banks and their loan officers
  • Streamline our quarterly reporting package for our banks
  • Monitor and make recommendations for SG&A efficiency while facilitating growth plan
  • Oversee internal control and other accounting/operational procedures
  • Work closely with the Purchasing department as well as Division Presidents to control cost and maintain predictable margins

Education & Experience
  • 10 years minimum experience in finance/accounting.  Experience working for a production home builder or land developer is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other related course of study
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.  Above average in Excel.
