ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the operational, financial, administrative, and development functions of Addlestone Hebrew Academy. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the COO works closely with the Head of School but operates independently in executing strategic plans and managing all non-academic operations.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Strategic Operations & Planning
- Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency across the organization.
- Partner with the Board to develop and execute long-term strategic goals.
- Regularly assess, update, and refine operational policies and procedures.
Financial Management
- Direct day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, purchasing, and cash flow management.
- Collaborate with the Treasurer and Finance Committee on annual budgets, audits, and long-term financial planning, providing appropriate periodic financial reports necessary for sound financial decision making. Serves as the primary point of contact for external audit partners.
- Oversee business office functions such as billing, collections, and vendor relationships.
Board Relations & Institutional Reporting
- Provide the Board with regular updates on operations, finances, risk management, and compliance.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Board and operational departments.
Facilities & Campus Operations
- Oversee all aspects of campus operations, including maintenance, safety, security, and capital projects.
- Coordinate with the Building and Grounds Committee to ensure facilities fully support academic and extracurricular programs.
Human Resources & Compliance
- Oversee all human resources functions for non-academic staff, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation. Provide support to the Head of School in implementing a structured framework for faculty performance evaluations and in developing comprehensive HR policies and procedures to support organizational goals.
- Ensure organizational compliance with all applicable employment laws, regulations, and human resources best practices by developing and maintaining consistent, equitable policies and procedures applicable to all staff and faculty.
Technology & Infrastructure
- Supervise IT operations to ensure effective, secure, and reliable technology systems.
- Evaluate and recommend technology upgrades or investments as needed.
Development & Fundraising
- Support the Board in fundraising initiatives, including annual giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, as well as cultivating and stewarding donor relationships.
- Perform duties associated with grant writing, donor recognition, and alumni engagement.
- Collaborate with the Development Committee and Board to set and achieve fundraising goals.
- Manage the donor database, ensuring timely acknowledgments and accurate reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Nonprofit Management, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 7–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, finance, or nonprofit management.
- Prior experience in independent schools or mission-driven organizations strongly preferred.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and sound judgment in handling sensitive matters.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor relations highly desirable.
COMPENSATION
The compensation range for this position is expected to be $125,000 for the first year with the opportunity for an increase in the second year. Generous benefits are also available to employees, which include health, dental, and vision insurance as well as a 403B retirement program with match. Employees whose children attend AHA may be eligible to receive a tuition discount as well.
