Job Overview:

A client of ours is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Field Service Technician to join their team. In this role, you will conduct field inspections of steam traps in industrial and pharmaceutical steam systems, helping clients improve operational efficiency and reduce their environmental impact. You will also be responsible for system commissioning, start-ups, troubleshooting, repairs, and component replacements. A strong background in steam, condensate, and hydronic systems is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use ultrasonic and thermographic devices to assess steam trap performance.
  • Accurately document data such as trap type, size, location, and operating conditions.
  • Analyze system performance to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Clearly communicate findings and technical solutions to clients and internal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards during all field operations.
  • Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, P&IDs, and CAD layouts.
  • Red-line drawings in the field as needed.
  • Demonstrate expertise in steam, condensate, and hydronic systems.
  • Coordinate with sales, service teams, and customers to schedule system surveys.
  • Install QR tags, perform system mapping, and collect operational data.
  • Use proprietary software to generate detailed energy savings reports.
  • Inspect steam traps for proper installation and recommend enhancements.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office, Outlook, Salesforce, and Smartsheet effectively.
  • Troubleshoot issues in steam, condensate, air, and hydronic systems.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • High School diploma/GED required; vocational or technical degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in steam trap surveys, industrial maintenance, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of steam, condensate, and hydronic systems with a solid understanding of controls and instrumentation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and communicate professionally with clients.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and data recording methods.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client sites (up to 75%).
  • Company Vehicle provided
  • OSHA 30 and TAPPISAFE certification preferred.
  • Ultrasonic and thermography training certifications preferred.

Pay: $55,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
