Responsibilities Include:
- Install and implement LAN and wireless infrastructure including switches, cabling, APs, and other components.
- Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex network issues and implement root cause prevention.
- Monitor and optimize network performance; document incident resolution paths.
- Maintain and update SOPs, diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Assist in hardware/network design, configuration, and infrastructure planning.
- Maintain a complete and updated network equipment inventory; assist in lifecycle planning.
- Evaluate new networking technologies and provide integration recommendations.
- Update office floorplans with workstation and equipment details.
- Create and maintain a centralized dashboard displaying facility and system data, including floorplans and personnel counts.
- Ensure all facility data is well-documented and reportable.
- Perform physical audits and cleanup of network closets, including labeling and documentation.
- Maintain CAD/PDF “as-built” network diagrams for all 68 DSS office locations.
- Conduct on-site cellular signal assessments to support SD-WAN carrier selection.
Deliverables:
- Network closet audit reports with photos and documentation.
- Updated floorplans and network layouts for all DSS offices.
- Monthly summary reports of activities, hours, and progress.
- SOPs and documentation for network standards.
- Dashboard implementation with associated facility data.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field OR equivalent experience (year-for-year substitution).
- 5+ years of experience with data network services and data communications, including LAN/wireless installation and configuration.
- 5+ years of experience with complex network design and equipment configuration.
- 5+ years of experience with office automation systems, fiber optics, and microcomputer hardware/software.
Preferred:
- Advanced understanding of network configuration and protocols.
- Experience with cable management, patch panels, and troubleshooting network closets.
- Experience with wireless infrastructure, cloud networking (SD-WAN, Azure), and VoIP technologies.
