FGP has been retained by the Richmond International Airport/Capital Region Airport Commission to recruit for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join their accounting team.

Senior Payroll Specialist
Pay Range: $66,713.00 -$75,000.00

About Us: Established in 1975 by an act of the Virginia General Assembly, the Capital Region Airport Commission owns and operates Richmond International Airport (RIC). The Commission directs the growth, operation and business activities of RIC and works tirelessly to ensure it continues to be an affordable option for local, regional, and out-of-state travelers. 

Position Overview: Responsible for processing payroll, ensuring compliance with tax laws and labor regulations, and serving as a subject matter expert (SME) for payroll functions within the airport’s Human Resource Information System (HRIS).  This role requires expertise in payroll processing, financial recordkeeping, and accounting principles.  The specialist will also assist in benefits-related payroll functions, reporting, and reconciliations while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and accuracy. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Proficiency in ADP payroll software (or similar HRIS/payroll systems such as Workday, UKG, or Oracle).
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local tax regulations, wage and hour laws, GASB standards and company policies.
  • Work with Human Resources to ensure timely and accurate processing of new hires, terminations, benefits,  data validation in ADP and employee changes.
  • Serving as the point of contact for payroll and timekeeping system, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies and optimize payroll processes.
  • Administer and ensure compliance with Virginia Retirement (VRS) reporting including payments, contributions, adjustments, and reconciliations.
Required Experience:
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of payroll processing experience in a corporate, municipal, or aviation setting.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred but not required.
Required Skills:
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, standards, methods and practices related to payroll and employee benefits; basic accounting principles as related to payroll processing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise discretion and professionalism with sensitive information.
