Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for capital equipment, ensuring alignment with production requirements and financial objectives.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process, from supplier selection and negotiation to contract management and post-purchase support.
- Evaluate and source local and international suppliers, considering factors such as cost, quality, lead times, and reliability.
- Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to understand equipment specifications and operational needs.
- Oversee the Buyer/Planner and Materials Manager roles, ensuring efficient material planning, inventory control, and procurement activities.
- Conduct market analysis to stay informed about industry trends, potential supply risks, and emerging opportunities.
- Optimize supply chain processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance supplier performance.
- Proven ability to strategize and manage the procurement of large capital equipment.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
- Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management systems.
- Ability to analyze market trends and make data-driven sourcing decisions.
- Excellent organizational skills, with an aptitude for planning and prioritization.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in supply chain management, specifically in the procurement of capital equipment for manufacturing operations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Advanced degree in Supply Chain Management or Business.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on capital equipment sourcing.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices.
- Leadership or supervisory experience, though not required, would be advantageous.
