Job Title: Supply Chain Manager (Capital Equipment Sourcing)

Job Summary:
As a pivotal component of our manufacturing operations, the Supply Chain Manager (Capital Equipment Sourcing) will spearhead our sourcing strategies, focusing on the procurement of larger capital equipment ranging from $50K to $150K. This role demands a strategic thinker who can manage and optimize our supply chain operations, including planning, scheduling, and procurement, to support production efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management, with specific expertise in sourcing significant capital investments and an ability to navigate the complexities of local and global supply markets.


Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for capital equipment, ensuring alignment with production requirements and financial objectives.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process, from supplier selection and negotiation to contract management and post-purchase support.
  • Evaluate and source local and international suppliers, considering factors such as cost, quality, lead times, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to understand equipment specifications and operational needs.
  • Oversee the Buyer/Planner and Materials Manager roles, ensuring efficient material planning, inventory control, and procurement activities.
  • Conduct market analysis to stay informed about industry trends, potential supply risks, and emerging opportunities.
  • Optimize supply chain processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance supplier performance.
 
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proven ability to strategize and manage the procurement of large capital equipment.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
  • Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management systems.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and make data-driven sourcing decisions.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with an aptitude for planning and prioritization.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in supply chain management, specifically in the procurement of capital equipment for manufacturing operations.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Advanced degree in Supply Chain Management or Business.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on capital equipment sourcing.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience, though not required, would be advantageous.
