Our client is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its wellestablished workers’ compensation defense practice in North Carolina. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely, with residence ideally in Western North Carolina, while supporting a regional firm known for its strong insurer and employer relationships and handson litigation experience. This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys defenseside litigation, values efficiency and professionalism, and wants meaningful responsibility within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Support and collaborate with senior attorneys on workers’ compensation defense matters
  • Professionally represent employers, insurers, and selfinsured clients
  • Manage a caseload with attention to strategy, detail, and client service
  • Handle discovery, including document review, written discovery, and coordination of evidence
  • Conduct factual investigations and legal research
  • Draft pleadings, motions, correspondence, and other legal documents
  • Prepare and file documents with administrative bodies and courts
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and claims professionals
  • Track billable time accurately and assist with billing documentation as needed
 
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in North Carolina
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in workers’ compensation, insurance defense, or employment law
  • Prior defense experience strongly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and priorities in a remote setting
  • Professional, teamoriented approach to client service
