Responsibilities:
- Manage and defend workers’ compensation claims on behalf of employers, insurers, and self-insured entities
- Collaborate with experienced attorneys to develop case strategy and achieve favorable client outcomes
- Handle all phases of litigation, including discovery, investigations, motion practice, and case preparation
- Draft pleadings, motions, legal correspondence, and other case-related documents
- Conduct legal research and analyze complex issues to support litigation strategy
- Prepare and submit filings with administrative agencies and courts
- Communicate regularly with clients, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders
- Attend hearings, mediations, depositions, and other litigation-related proceedings as needed
- Maintain accurate case documentation, billing records, and deadlines
- Deliver responsive, high-quality client service while managing an active caseload
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in North Carolina
- 3+ years of experience in workers’ compensation, insurance defense, employment law, or related litigation
- Defense-side experience preferred
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fully remote environment
- Collaborative, client-focused approach with strong attention to detail
Compensation & Benefits:
- $80,000 – $120,000, based on experience
