Position Summary:

Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina (GSESC) is seeking an inspiring and mission-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the council into its next chapter of growth and impact. Serving a region that spans diverse urban, suburban, and rural communities, the CEO will advance the strategic priorities while furthering impact by building girls of courage, confidence, and character. The CEO will lead membership growth, program delivery, financial management, as well as community engagement. Working closely with volunteers, community partners, and civic leaders throughout Eastern SC, the CEO will strengthen the council’s visibility, sustainability, and reach while inspiring a high-performing team and ensuring that every girl has access to transformative experiences.

Strategic Leadership

  • Partners with Board, key staff, and volunteers to identify opportunities that strengthen GSESC’s position as the premier leadership development organization for girls in Eastern South Carolina.
  • Leads execution of the strategic plan, monitors organizational performance, drives accountability, and ensures transparent communication of progress and outcomes.
  • Proactively uses data and actively seeks and incorporates insights from girl members, volunteers, and staff to inform decision-making, expand access, and enhance the overall girl experience.

Visibility and Impact

  • Demonstrates consistent visibility and meaningful engagement across the council’s footprint, embodying an approachable and accessible presence.
  • Maintains a deep understanding of the issues impacting girls today, leveraging those insights to advance relevant, high-impact programs and position GSESC as a leading advocate for girls at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Prioritizes active engagement across the council’s footprint, building strategic relationships that strengthen membership, increase volunteer participation, and deepen community support.

Fundraising and Financial Oversight

  • Provides sound financial leadership and stewardship, ensuring resources are managed responsibly in support of the council’s mission and strategic priorities.
  • Oversees budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and resource allocation to maintain the council’s fiscal health and long-term sustainability.
  • Champions a comprehensive fundraising strategy that harnesses multigenerational giving, builds enduring donor relationships, and secures sustainable resources and diverse streams of revenue.

 

Program and Product Development

  • Collaborates with lead staff to assess programs, camps, products, and membership engagement to determine data-driven strategies to drive growth and impact.
  • Ensures programs and experiences remain responsive and relevant to the needs of “girls today.”
  • Maintains a visible presence across the council’s service area, engaging girls, volunteers, and community stakeholders to gather insights that inform program development and strengthen mission impact.
  • Partners with key staff and Board to ensure Camp Sandy Ridge is effectively utilized, maintained, and continuously improved to support long-term organizational goals

Talent Culture and Team

  • Leads, develops and inspires a high-performing team with clear goals, objectives, and performance metrics that drive accountability and organizational success.
  • Ensures alignment around strategic priorities by establishing clear expectations, promoting collaboration, and communicating organizational goals and progress.
  • Cultivates an engaged and empowered workforce, investing in talent development, succession planning, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Candidate Background: The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of progressive executive experience with a preference for non-profit leadership. The candidate will have demonstrated success throughout their career collaborating internally and externally with diverse stakeholder groups, including boards, volunteers, and corporate leaders. They will be team-oriented, results-driven, and display a vision and passion for the girl enrichment experience, with a proven ability to lead change, address organizational challenges head-on, and build resilience across teams and stakeholders. They should have the ability and excitement to travel throughout the region to build targeted, high-impact relationships and engage in meaningful opportunities.
