A well known client in Columbia, SC is looking to add a Classification & Compensation Analyst to their HR team to maintain an effective and efficient compensation and classification program.

Description: 

  • Administers a comprehensive compensation and classification program, which includes, but is not limited to: determining proper classifications and pay ranges for all position in compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines.
  • Participates in and leads various compensation projects, including compensation planning, market competitiveness reviews, incentive planning, equity administration and on-going compensation support.
  • Plans, develops, implements and administers job evaluations, common review merit process, wage/salary program, and incentive programs.  
  • Determines appropriate salary and grade assignment for new classifications and reclassifications.
  • Participates in salary surveys, audits and studies of compensation practices and develops recommendations for compensation changes needed to ensure competitive practices in the marketplace.
  • Independently resolves more complex employee and management inquiries that arise related to compensation policies, practices, processes, including job analysis.
  • Develops and/or updates job descriptions according to established format and ensures compliance with applicable federal regulations.
  • Develops and monitors process to ensure job descriptions are kept accessible, current, accurate, and in compliance 
  • Participates in compensation surveys, audits, and studies to collect and analyze competitive salary information to determine company’s competitive position.
  • Assists in the administration of performance review or merit-rating programs.
  • Responds to studies and identifies best practices and trends in the Classification & Compensation field and recommends implementation.
  • Surveys and reviews the applicable labor markets and proposes changes to  Total Compensation plan to maintain competitiveness with market and/or classification and compensation best practice trends.
  • Recommends corrective or alternative actions to resolve compensation-related problems.
  • Provides project management and analytical support to the execution of the Total Rewards strategy.
  • Provides support and advice to departments in respect to general and individual compensation-related issues in support of a consistent, competitive, equitable, and efficient total rewards system.
  • Participates and may take the lead in cross-functional team projects as appropriate, supports ad hoc project/analysis requests, and performs other duties as required.
  • Conducts job evaluations to ensure a balanced perspective on external market competitiveness and internal equitable pay practices. 
  • Coordinates and/or performs job classification and reclassification process using job analysis, job documentation, and job evaluation to maintain internal equity.
  • Processes Personnel Action Forms to include:  pay increases, promotions, demotions, transfers, classifications, and reclassifications. 
  • Works with others to determine need, review, and makes assessment of unique classification & compensation needs (i.e. Skill Based Pay, On-Call Pay, Team Based Pay, Inclement Weather Pay, Emergency Call-Back Pay, Training Pay, etc.). 
  • Interprets a variety of written material for the purpose of ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Prepares presentations on compensation related topics.

Education/Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in human resources administration, business administration or closely related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of professional-level HR experience with emphasis in functional area. 
  • Applicable HR Professional Certification preferred.
