Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing & Reporting
- Process semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
- Review, verify, and post employee time and payroll inputs including wages, overtime, bonuses, severance, and deductions
- Upload payroll data for new hires, terminations, and employee status changes
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records
- Manage garnishments through third-party vendors
- Prepare payroll reports and support internal and external audits
- Complete monthly and quarterly payroll reporting, including BLS submissions
- Participate in payroll system testing, updates, and process improvement initiatives
- Serve as a primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate with third-party vendors to ensure timely and accurate payroll, tax registrations, and remittances
- Partner daily with HR, Accounting, and Total Rewards to ensure proper coordination of pay, benefits, and deductions
- Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Monitor and implement changes related to tax law updates
- Support year-end processes including W-2 preparation and quarterly tax filings
- Assist with 401(k) audits by providing payroll and tax documentation as needed
- Review and recommend improvements to payroll, tax, and benefits procedures
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and audit controls
- Create and manage processes for auditing timekeeping records for compliance
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
- 2–5 years of payroll processing experience
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems and payroll procedures
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies while maintaining confidentiality
- Solid understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification
- Experience in consumer finance or banking environments
- Experience with Workday payroll and time & attendance systems
- Monday to Friday (8am to 5pm) EST
- Can be 100% remote
- $35 – $37 hourly
- Temporary contract assignment – June to November 2026
