A respected law firm is seeking an experienced Employment & Labor Paralegal to join its Birmingham office. This is an excellent opportunity for a paralegal with 3+ years of legal experience who values collaboration, professionalism, and a positive office culture. The role offers hands-on involvement in all phases of litigation and requires strong knowledge of legal terminology, document preparation, case management, and state and federal court procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage complex cases from inception through discovery and verdict
  • Draft, edit, and proofread motions, briefs, pleadings, notices, correspondence, summaries, and reports
  • Prepare and file briefs, pleadings, subpoenas, and other documents in state and federal courts and administrative agencies
  • Support labor union campaigns by assisting with related materials, resources, and communications
  • Prepare discovery requests and responses, summarize deposition transcripts, and manage document productions
  • Assist with trial preparation, including exhibits, charts, notebooks, and subpoenas
  • Cite-check and quality-control legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Create and maintain complex document databases
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations for internal and external use
  • Coordinate and schedule conferences, depositions, hearings, mediations, and meetings
  • Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials as needed
  • Conduct legal research using resources such as PACER, SJIS, Lexis, Secretary of State records, and other online and public databases
  • Track and manage court calendars, deadlines, filings, and appearances
  • Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external inquiries

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certification required
  • 2+ years of litigation experience in employment law, labor union campaigns, and collective bargaining
  • Knowledge of Rules of Civil Procedures, state and federal court procedures, and electronic filing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other document management software required
  • Knowledge of e-discovery and Trial Director required
  • Strong communication and drafting skills
