A growing real estate firm is seeking a Property Accountant to join its expanding accounting team in Columbia, SC. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, growth-focused environment supporting a portfolio of properties while developing expertise in accrual-based accounting and financial reporting. Responsibilities

  • Manage financial reporting and accounting activities for an assigned portfolio of properties
  • Prepare monthly and periodic financial statements in accordance with client agreements
  • Record journal entries and perform account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations
  • Support the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all deliverables
  • Calculate and process management fees, invoices, and other financial obligations
  • Ensure timely funding of obligations, including vendor payments, debt service, and owner distributions
  • Assist with collection efforts related to delinquent tenant balances
  • Prepare annual reconciliation of recoverable expenses within required timelines
  • Partner with internal teams to provide high-quality service and financial insight
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and special assignments as needed

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Strong foundation in accrual accounting
  • Exposure to month-end close and/or financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $70,000 – $80,000, depending on experience
