Software Engineer – Code Review & Technical Documentation (Contract | Remote)

Location: Remote (U.S.)
Duration: 1-Month Contract with Extension Potential
Hours: Full-Time (40 hrs/week)

About the Role

We’re seeking experienced software professionals to support a cutting-edge AI initiative focused on improving AI-generated code documentation, commit messages, and pull request (PR) descriptions.

This is not a software development role. Instead, you’ll review code changes, evaluate AI-generated technical content, and rewrite documentation to reflect the clarity, accuracy, and judgment of an experienced engineer.

This is an ideal opportunity for Software Engineers, SDETs, QA Engineers, Technical Writers with coding experience, Data Engineers, or AI/ML professionals who enjoy code review and technical communication.

Responsibilities

  • Review source code, commits, and pull requests across multiple languages
  • Evaluate AI-generated commit messages and technical documentation
  • Rewrite content to reflect real-world engineering standards and best practices
  • Provide clear, concise summaries of code changes
  • Identify inaccuracies, omissions, or overly verbose AI-generated content
  • Support the development of high-quality training data for next-generation AI models

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of software engineering, QA, SDET, data engineering, or related technical experience
  • Strong ability to read and understand source code
  • Experience participating in code reviews and PR processes
  • Excellent written English communication skills
  • Familiarity with Git, version control, and software development workflows
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Senior Software Engineer, SDET, QA Engineer, Data Engineer, AI/ML Engineer, or Technical Writer with coding experience
  • Experience writing technical documentation, release notes, or PR descriptions
  • Python experience
  • Experience reviewing code across multiple languages
  • Exposure to AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, or LLM-based applications

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate can quickly understand a code change and communicate its purpose clearly, concisely, and professionally—just as an experienced engineer would during a peer review.
