We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Insurance Defense Attorney to join our growing litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to build a long-term career handling complex insurance defense matters in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience, exceptional writing skills, and the ability to manage cases independently while working closely with clients and senior attorneys.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle all phases of insurance defense litigation from inception through resolution.
- Manage a caseload involving general liability, premises liability, construction defect, automobile liability, professional liability, and other insurance defense matters.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and legal memoranda.
- Conduct and defend depositions, attend hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences.
- Perform legal research and provide strategic recommendations to clients.
- Communicate regularly with insurance carriers, insureds, and other stakeholders regarding case developments and litigation strategy.
- Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and motion practice.
- Collaborate with partners and legal staff to deliver outstanding client service and favorable outcomes.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license and good standing with the State Bar of SC (or have taken bar exam and awaiting results).
- 1-5 years of insurance defense litigation experience preferred.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Experience taking and defending depositions.
- Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Trial experience is a plus but not required.
