MANAGING DIRECTOR, MILL VILLAGE MINISTRIES

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Managing Director serves as the senior internal leader of Mill Village Ministries (MVM), accountable for ensuring the organization operates as a cohesive, aligned, and high-performing system in service of its mission. This role translates strategic vision into organization-wide execution, aligning priorities, people, and resources to deliver measurable impact.

Acting as the organization’s operational integrator, the Managing Director drives clarity, accountability, and performance across all functions, enabling MVM to scale effectively, strengthen its programs, and sustain long-term impact in the communities it serves.

Operational Leadership

  • Translate board-approved strategy and Executive Director priorities into coordinated operational plans, timelines, and measurable goals, ensuring alignment across senior leadership.
  • Guide and reinforce consistent internal rhythms for planning, prioritization, execution, and performance management, building on existing practices.
  • Ensure alignment and accountability across senior leaders, removing barriers and supporting effective execution.
  • Provide strategic oversight of day-to-day operations through the Operations Director, ensuring strong execution.

 

Programs & Impact

  • Accountable for organizational performance, ensuring leaders are supported and provided with necessary resources within their respective areas.
  • Alongside Director of Impact & Innovation, leverage existing data and reporting structures to monitor progress, surface risks, and reinforce continuous improvement across programs.
  • Partner with the Director of Impact & Innovation, Operations Director, and Program Directors to strengthen evaluation practices, refine success metrics, and advance outcomes, supporting their ownership while ensuring cross-functional coherence.
  • Identify and elevate opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and community impact in collaboration with senior leadership, reinforcing and extending current programmatic efforts.

 

Talent & Culture

  • Champion a healthy, values-aligned culture rooted in accountability, collaboration, and trust.
  • Strengthen organizational capacity by coaching and supporting senior leaders in team development, feedback practices, and performance management.
  • Reinforce clarity of roles, responsibilities, and decision-making authority, ensuring leaders are empowered in their scopes while aligned to organizational priorities.
  • Advance and ensure consistency in existing systems for hiring, onboarding, and performance review, maintaining leadership accountability for direct team management.


Process & Infrastructure
  • Set and steward systems strategy in partnership with the senior leaders, ensuring continued alignment and effectiveness across platforms.
  • Provide strategic oversight of internal systems and infrastructure (e.g., CRM, financial reporting, workflow tools) through functional leaders, supporting ongoing optimization.
  • Oversee long-term planning and effective use of facilities and assets, in coordination with the Operations Director.
  • Ensure documentation, policies, and procedures remain current, consistently applied, and reinforced through appropriate functional ownership.

 

Financial Oversight & Administration

  • Partner with the Executive Director to lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Oversee financial performance at a strategic level, ensuring senior leaders are accountable for managing budgets and operating within financial targets.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, compliance, and risk management practices are maintained and consistently executed.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred; or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of senior leadership experience, including responsibility for managing teams and complex systems.
  • Strong people leadership skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Financial literacy and experience partnering on budgeting, forecasting, and expense management.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and communities served by Mill Village Ministries.
