A government organization in the upstate is seeking a candidate to join their team as a Payroll Administrator.  The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in payroll administration, knowledge of state and federal requirements and compliance, and experience in a government entity.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains all County time and attendance systems.
  • Checks bank account for positive pay exceptions; uploads positive pay bank file for accounts payable and for payroll.
  • Prepares claims for all required payroll liabilities for pay period.
  • Reconciles, calls in, and posts payroll taxes to ledger.
  • Reconciles and posts employer fringe.
  • Closes payroll period.
  • Reconciles and completes claims for payment for all insurances.
  • Uploads positive pay bank files for additional accounts.
  • Reconciles and completes claim for payment for FBME Money Plus; uploads FBMC Money Plus File.
  • Reconciles payroll deductions.
  • Determines amounts to be billed for insurance, retirement, etc.
  • Prepares and posts journal entries for insurance as required.
  • Reconciles and completes claim for payment for SCRS and PORS due by the 30th; completes claim for payment for supplemental SCRS and FORS due by the 30th.
  • Reconciles and deposits library insurance check.
  • Reconciles and prepares Federal and state tax returns due one month after quarter end.
  • Uploads retirement file, due one month after quarter end.
  • Prepares W-2’s; uploads file by required date.
  • Compiles and prepares information for auditors.
  • Receives and/or reviews various forms, reports, correspondence, policies, directories, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; completes, processes, forwards, or retains as appropriate.
  • Prepares and/or processes a variety of documentation associated with department operations, per established procedures and within designated timeframes; reviews various documentation for accuracy and completeness; distributes/issues various documentation.
Qualifications:
  • 2 – 4 years of payroll experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Experience with Munis/Tyler Tech a plus.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • $65,000 – $80,000/yr
