This remote HR Generalist based in Greenville or Columbia, SC supports a growing, mission driven organization with a strong emphasis on employee relations, compliance, and operational excellence. The position partners closely with leadership and employees to deliver a positive employee experience while ensuring accurate and compliant HR practices.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a primary resource for employee relations matters, including performance management guidance, conflict resolution, and escalated employee questions
  • Administer leave and accommodations processes including FMLA and ADA
  • Manage and maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS
  • Process employee changes such as promotions, transfers, pay updates, contracts, and separations
  • Support recruiting, hiring, and onboarding activities in partnership with another HR Generalist
  • Coordinate and help facilitate in person orientations and employee recognition efforts
  • Track and maintain required employee certifications in collaboration with leadership
  • Provide policy interpretation and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Prepare HR reports and assist with audits, documentation, and compliance needs
  • Partner cross functionally with leadership on training, development, and employee engagement initiatives
 
Qualifications:
  • Local to Greenville or Columbia SC
  • Prior experience as an HR Generalist or HR Coordinator with increasing responsibility
  • Strong experience in employee relations and advising leaders on performance matters
  • Experience administering leaves of absence and accommodations strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of HRIS systems and HR operations processes
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information with discretion
  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Experience in education or nonprofit environments is a plus
  • Ability to travel periodically for orientations and meetings within the state
