Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager  in Columbia, SC to coordinate and supervise the Finance Department’s accounting operations. This role oversees the general ledger, financial reporting, audit preparation, and ACFR completion while supervising a team of accountants.

Responsibilities 
  • Managing fund accounting: Oversees the accounting and reporting for all funds, ensuring accurate classification, tracking, and compliance with governmental accounting standards.
  • Reconciliations and closings: Reviews and approves monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and financial closings to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Journal entries: Prepares, reviews, and posts complex and routine journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and accurate posting to the general ledger.
  • Compliance with GAAP: Ensures accounting activities adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and applicable regulations and policies.
  • Budget support: Assists with the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of operating and capital budgets, including budget amendments and financial projections.
  • Coordination with auditors and leadership: Serves as a key point of contact for external auditors and leadership, supporting audit activities, addressing findings, and providing financial guidance and reporting.
Hours:
  • Monday to Friday (8am to 5pm)
  • Opportunity to work a HYBRID schedule after training (WFH 2 days per week)
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Master’s Degree (preferred)
  • Accounting Management experience (Required)
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in government/public sector
  • CPA (preferred)
  • Workday experience (Preferred)
  • Strong experience with MS Office Suites
Compensation & Benefits:
  • $68,000 – $85,000
