A well known client of ours in Charleston is seeking a Dental Clinical Assistant to provide hands on clinical and administrative support within our student clinics. Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager and in collaboration with providers and student dentists, this role plays a critical part in delivering exceptional patient care in a fast paced academic healthcare environment. This is a direct hire opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, set up, and break down dental operatories for clinical and surgical procedures, ensuring accurate instrumentation and adherence to infection control, OSHA, and institutional protocols.
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment to support safe and efficient patient care.
- Assist and guide dental students during a wide range of procedures, from general dentistry to advanced specialty care.
- Capture and assist with diagnostic imaging including intraoral radiographs, panoramic, cephalometric, 3D imaging, and digital scans, in compliance with all radiation safety standards.
- Support CAD/CAM and digital dentistry systems, including scanners, milling equipment, and related hardware.
- Update and utilize the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to support patient care and clinical workflows.
- Manage dental supplies and inventory by monitoring stock levels, placing and tracking orders, and ensuring operatories are fully stocked.
- Provide administrative support including equipment issue reporting, MSDS maintenance, and incident/exposure documentation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; dental assisting certification or formal training preferred.
- Prior experience in a dental or clinical healthcare setting strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of dental procedures, instrumentation, sterilization processes, and infection control standards.
- Experience with dental imaging, digital dentistry tools, and/or CAD/CAM systems preferred.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
